INFORMATION ABOUT YOUR GUIDES

Connie    CONNIE SUE BEADELL started her desert life when she was only 5 months old; along with her mother Anne, accompanying Len on a 5-month expedition to perform reconnaissance for the Connie Sue and Anne Beadell Highways in the Great Victoria Desert.
Family desert trips then became a way of life; as Len used to say..."You make the roads then you take your family on them for holidays!" Connie has since travelled on every one of Len's roads, and took on the task of maintaining the many historic plaques after Len's death in 1995. She has accompanied dozens of tour groups and enjoys helping people learn more about Len and his work.
Desert plants have become an interest too; identifying, photographing and learning about how they helped the Aboriginals survive.
Connie's work background started with 10 years of general nursing and midwifery, 14 years as a violinist in the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra and has studied Computer Systems Engineering at TAFE part-time.

Mick    MICK HUTTON grew up with a rural background. Mick spent time with horses and cattle, timber, fencing and other aspects of country life.
Selected for an Aircraft Mechanical apprenticeship with QANTAS Airways in Sydney, Mick completed the four year course successfully and stayed on another 3 years as a tradesman. Tiring of the city life, Mick spent the next eight years in the Softwood Timber Industry working in most Australian states during that time.
Desert travel began in 1995 (he met Connie in the desert!) and has continued until now with many trips both Off-Road and Off-Track. In regard to tyres, he has done extensive research and is now a tyre Major Repairer. Mick has been involved with Australian Geographic and TJM Products expeditions.
